Enjoying Professional Sports In Los Angeles

Los Angeles might be more well known for Hollywood and being the movie capital of the world, not to mention one of the largest cities in the United States, but they have a very healthy professional sports culture, as well!

LA Sports Teams

While the recent news might have been in the NFL finally making their return, there's a lot to like about the sports scene in L.A.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The L.A. Dodgers have a long and successful history in Major League Baseball and that includes yet another play-off run this season. The Dodgers are one of the two prime examples of a team that is used to constantly being in the championship hunt. This National League baseball team plays in the appropriately named Dodger Stadium, located right by Elysian Park.

Anaheim Angels

Sometimes simply referred to as the California Angels, based out of Anaheim in Orange County the Angels are an American League team that have won a few World Series titles and have seen their share of success, although not quite to the level that the cross-town Dodgers have enjoyed. A city as large as L.A. certainly has the space for two top notch Major League Baseball teams. The classic Angel Stadium of Anaheim where the Angels play can be found on the Santa Ana River where Katella Blvd, State College Blvd, and Orange Avenue all meet.

Los Angeles Rams

If we look at history, L.A. went a surprisingly long time without a professional football team when the Rams moved to St. Louis and the Raiders back to Oakland in the 1990s but the Rams are back...and it's going to be a while before they're competitive again but NFL fans in Los Angeles can actually see a game at the famous LA Memorial Coliseum for the first time in well over a decade. Now how long will it be before fans can enjoy good football again? For the time being that might be better left to the colleges of UCLA and USC.

Los Angeles Clippers

The L.A. Clippers play in Huntington Park and although were long considered one of the true laughing stocks of the league, they have put together multiple play-offs bound teams in the loaded Western Conference over the last half decade and in fact are currently playing a much higher level of basketball than the more classically famous Lakers. Sometimes little brother does get the last laugh!

Los Angeles Lakers

The Staples Center is the home of the L.A. Lakers, who have been the definition of a dynasty over many decades, however their best basketball appears at least a decade behind them at this point as they have struggled mightily in the NBA's rough Western Conference over the last half a dozen years or so, and Kobe's retirement isn't going to make the rebuilding process any easier there in Los Angeles.

LA Kings

Believe it or not, Los Angeles has hockey, and while the L.A. Kings may not be what they were in the later half of Wayne Gretzky's career, they are heavily credited with helping bring a much heavier wave of popularity to the NHL in the United States. Those six professional teams in America's four favorite sports just goes to show how much true interest there is in pro sports in the L.A. area.
